DUSHANBE, April 28, 2009, Asia-Plus — The seventh meeting of the working group on Afghanistan within the council of foreign ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is being held in Moscow today, according to press release issued by the CSTO Secretariat said.
The meeting is considering the present situation in Afghanistan as well as the draft plan of joint actions of the CSTO member nations on supporting stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan and addressing the drug threat emanating from this country.
The meeting is also planned to review the results of work carried out by the working group since the beginning of this year, press release said.
The working group on Afghanistan within the council of the CSTO foreign ministers was established by the Collective Security Council’s resolution of June 25, 2005. The working group is dedicated to work out recommendations on activities to fight the drug threat and support formation of state institutions in Afghanistan, press release said.
