DUSHANBE, January 16, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Full rehabilitation of the republican TB hospital is expected to have been finished by the end of 2010, Health Minister Nusratullo Salimov remarked at an enlarged meeting of the ministry on January 15.

The rehabilitation work is curried out under financial support of the German Development Bank (KfW), which has provided 4.6 million euros in the frames of the second phase of the TV prevention project.

Besides, KfW intends to provide 17.4 million euros for rehabilitation of maternity departments at the central district hospitals in 10 districts of the Khatlon province during 2009-2010.

“Taking into account considerable results yielded in implementation of the Community and Basic Health Project, the World Health Organization (WHO) has decided to provide further $5 million for this direction,“ the minister stressed.

Salimov noted that 54 medical facilities were constructed and rehabilitated last year under support of the investment projects.  According to him, 54 investment projects for a total amount of 445.2143 million somoni are now implemented in the health sector.  This amount includes 91.7 million somoni provided in loans and more than 353.5 million somoni provided in a form of grant.
