DUSHANBE, February 21, 2011, Asia-Plus — A delegation from Kyrgyzstan, consisting of designers, pattern makers and representatives of universities, is currently in Tajikistan to introduce Kyrgyz service providers to Tajik textile and clothing companies, share experiences, and facilitate possible cooperation between them, according to the Trade Promotion Program in Tajikistan.
The delegation arrived in Tajikistan on February 20 and its visit is expected to conclude on February 24. The exchange visit is organized under the Trade Promotion Program in Tajikistan, implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and funded by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland (SECO), Abdulfattoh Shafiyev, National Consultant on Public Relations, Trade Promotion Program in Tajikistan, International Trade Centre UNCTAD/WTO (ITC), said.
Today, a roundtable is being organized at the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI), with participation of representatives from relevant ministries and textile and clothing companies.
During the mission, Kyrgyz guests will also visit several textile and clothing companies in Dushanbe and Khujand and conduct meetings with professors and students at Technological University of Tajikistan.
It is expected that, during the meetings, Kyrgyz specialists will introduce events’ participants to the services they offer and inform them on the activities of the model and fashion departments of Kyrgyz universities.
The Trade Promotion Program in Tajikistan intends to organize a similar exchange visit of Tajik textile and clothing companies to Kyrgyzstan in the future.
The overall objective of Trade Promotion Program in Tajikistan is to contribute to the sustainable expansion and diversification of SMEs’ exports in Tajikistan, by increasing the competitiveness of the textile and clothing industry and improving the quality management infrastructure of the country. This project is funded by the Government of Switzerland through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
