German ambassador inquires after health of IRP spokesman

DUSHANBE, April 4, 2011, Asia-Plus  — On Sunday April 3, German Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ms. Doris Hertrampf, received Hikmatullo Sayfullozoda, a member of the Islamic Revival Party (IRP)’s political council and editor-in-chief of its newspaper,

, according to the IRP press service.

The source says health condition of Sayfullozoda after a February attack on him was the focus of the meeting.

According to him, Sayfullozoda noted that Tajik law enforcement authorities have not yet identified persons who attacked him.

Besides, the sides also discussed issues related to the IRP activities and the regional problems, the source noted.

We will recall that Sayfullozoda was beaten up on his way to work on February 7.  Sayfullozoda said he was set upon by two assailants after a third person approached him and attempted to distract him.  He suffered a blow to the skull and severe bruising around his eyes and mouth.

Sayfullozoda is also a political analyst with the Dushanbe think tank, Dialog.
