Parliamentarians endorse amendments to the militsiya law

DUSHANBE, June 1, 2011, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament endorsed amendments to the country’s law “On Militsiya” (militsiya is used as a short official name of the civilian police in Tajikistan) on June 1.

Presenting the bill requiring amendments to the law, Deputy Interior Minister, Said Jourakhonov, noted the amendments provided for a procedure of use of rubber bullets against the participants of the mass disorders.

Parliamentarians also approved amendments proposed to the law on assemblies, demonstrations and peaceful manifestations as well as the administrative code.

On the amendments proposed to the law on assemblies, demonstrations and peaceful manifestations, Jourakhonov noted that the amendments concerned legal assessment of hunger strike.

MP Nasrullo Mahmoudov said that under amendments made to the administrative code, administrative action would be imposed upon natural persons or legal entities for non-observance of requirements of the RT Law “On State Symbols.”

“Besides, administration action will be imposed upon natural persons and legal entities for selling seedlings that do not meet state standards,” MP added.
