Tajikistan seeks Luxembourg CC’s support for attraction of investments

DUSHANBE, May 5, 2011, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s Ambassador to the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg Rustam Soliyev yesterday met with the Director General of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (CC), Ambassador Pierre Gramegna, the Tajik MFA information department reports.

In the course of the talks, Soliyev informed Gramegna of economic, hydropower, investment and infrastructure capacities of Tajikistan.  Tajik diplomat noted that Tajikistan had created favorable conditions and laid an appropriate legal foundation for attraction and functioning of foreign capital in the country.

He called on the CC to provide practical assistance with attraction of Luxembourg investments for development of Tajikistan’s economy.  Soliyev outlined sectors like energy, construction, tourism and minerals as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.  He also offered to consider the possibility of launching joint ventures.

Pierre Gramegna, for his part, noted that the Luxembourg CC was ready for establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation both at international level and at the level of business communities of the two countries, the source said.
