, May 4, Asia-Plus — Today it became known that torrential rain and mudslides that hit some areas of southern
Tajikistan
caused damage to the Temurmalik district as well.
The worst hit was the Tanobchi jamoat (community), where six residential buildings were damaged by mudslides and heavy rainfalls; of them, three residential buildings were destroyed completely, according to information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).
The MES source says mudslide damaged 220 meters of the riverbank protection works “Tanobchai Bolo” and serious damage was caused to 59 households.
Tajikistan
’s Emergencies Ministry and National Red Crescent Organization have also sent humanitarian aid to the disaster-hit population. The assistance included tents, blankets, mattresses, medicines, and other relief supplies, according to the source.
A commission is currently working in the disaster-hit area to assess actual volume of damage caused by the disaster.
