DUSHANBE, December 23, 2008, Asia-Plus — Deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) have endorsed the draft law on credit history or credit report in first reading.
A regular sitting of the fifth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the third convocation, presided over by its chairman, Saydullo Khairulloyev, was held on December 23.
Speaking at the session, the lower house speaker Saydullo Khairulloyev suggested that the bill should be sent for consideration and making amendments to the Public Council and political parties. “Let them give their view on this issue and we will take their proposals into account,” the speaker said.
Credit history or credit report is a record of an individual”s or company”s past borrowing and repaying, including information about late payments and bankruptcy. When a customer fills out an application for credit from a bank, store or credit card company, their information is forwarded to a credit bureau, along with constant updates on the status of their credit accounts, address or any other changes they may have made since the last time they applied for any credit. This information is used by lenders to determine an individual”s or entity”s credit worthiness; that is, determining an individual’s or entity’s means and willingness to repay an indebtness.
Parliamentarians also considered and endorsed the draft law on quarantine of plants, while the draft law on dehqon (peasant) farms will be posted on Majlisi Namoynadagon’s website for “nationwide discussion,” according to Khairulloyev.
