DUSHANBE, September 3, 2011, Asia-Plus – An international tow-day conference formally titled “Sovereignty of Tajikistan and Tajik Diasporas: History of Formation, Achievements and Problems” concluded in Dushanbe on September 3.
Organized by the Center of Tajiks and Persian-speaking Peoples of the World, which is led by Professor Mansour Babakhanov, the conference took place at Tajik National University.
The conference brought together senior representatives from the Migration Service of Tajikistan, the Association of the Persian-speakers of the World (Payvand), the Employment Department within President’s Executive Office as well as heads of the Assocaitions of Tajiks and Persian-speaking Peoples of the United Kingdom and Canada and the Tajik Diaspora in Russia’s Altai Republic to discuss problems facing Tajik Diasporas abroad.
The conference, in particular, considered issues related to formation and development of Tajik Diasporas abroad, especially in the Russian Federation.
The conference participants also heard the paper on the establishment and activities of the Congress of Bukharian Jews of North America and its ties with Tajikistan.
The conference also considered issues related to the contribution made by ethnic Tajiks living in China to expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and China, the level of education of Tajiks living abroad, cooperation of Tajik diplomatic missions with Tajik Diasporas, as well as social and legal problems facing Tajik labor migrants working in Russia and other CIS nations.
