DUSHANBE, December 22, 2008, Asia-Plus — The Dushanbe heat station has nearly halved heat production.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that the Dushanbe heat station had reduced the supply of daily heat from 164.5 gigacalories/hour to some 110 gigacalories/hour, “which is 52.1 percent of the originally planned.”
The main reason for reduction in the heat production is shortage of fuel. “The boiler house “Western” is not in operation at all, while the boiler house “Eastern” is currently producing inconsiderable amount of heat,” the spokesman said.
The Dushanbe heat station is subordinate to Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) power holding and its efficient operation depends on Barqi Tojik, according to Saidov.
We will recall that last month, the Dushanbe mayor’s office received some 300 complaints from Dushanbe residents about heating problems.
