DUSHANBE, November 11, 2011, Asia-Plus — The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) plans to inspect activities of its faction operating in the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) and its groups operating in local councils, Usmon Solehov, head of the PDP’s public relations department, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, this issue will be the focus of a meeting of the board of the executive committee of the party scheduled for November 18.
“A special attention will be given to the issues related to vitality of groups representing the party in the parliament and local legislatures as well as work of parliamentarians with voters,” Solehov said.
Founded in 1993, the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan is the biggest political party in Tajikistan. Its chairman is President Emomali Rahmon. It is the largest party, boasting more than 150,000 registered members. The official newspaper of the party is

The party controls some 70 percent of seats in the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the parliament and the overwhelming majority of members of local councils are members of the ruling.
