DUSHANBE, October 17, 2011, Asia-Plus — General Baz Mohammad Ahmadi, Deputy Minister of Interior for Counter-Narcotics, heading an Afghan government delegation, is arriving in Tajikistan today on a five-day working visit, according to the Afghan Embassy in Dushanbe.
Today, the delegation is conducting negotiations with the local government of Gorno Badakhshan (GBAO) and the GBAO law enforcement authorities.
The Afghan delegation is expected to arrive in the Tajik capital on October 19. In Dushanbe, Genera Baz Mohammad Ahmadi will hold talks with senior representatives of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Interior, State Committee for National Security (SCNS) and Drug Control Agency (DCA) as well as the UNODC Country Office in Tajikistan.
The main purpose of the visit is for the delegation to discuss ways of expansion of cooperation between Afghan and Tajik special services in combating drug trafficking and conducting joint operations on neutralization of transnational crime groups, the source said.
