DUSHANBE, December 1, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The public association Khoma will host a roundtable meeting formally titled “Opportunities for Establishment of Public TV in Tajikistan” on December 2.

Staged with support of Internews-Network Tajikistan, the meeting will bring together political scientists, lawyers, international experts and journalists to consider issues related to prospects of establishment of public TV in Tajikistan.  

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Khoma chairperson, Ms. Lola Merganova, noted that the meeting would discuss international experience of establishment of public-service broadcasters, legal regulation of public-service broadcasting in Tajikistan, and a financing system that allows public-service broadcaster to be independent from both political and commercial interests.
