UNODC conducts trainings for Tajik, Uzbek officers

The UN Office on Drugs and Crime conducted interactive training courses for Tajik and Uzbek drug control services.

Four one-day interactive computer training courses were conducted in Fatehabad-Oybek and Dusti-Sariosiye check-points on Tajik-Uzbek border in the frameworks of the UNODC-led Combating Illicit Trafficking in Opiates Originating in Afghanistan through Strengthening of Potential of Key Check-Points and Establishment of Offices for Boundary Cooperation Project.

Training courses, that are aimed to strengthen potential of check-points, were conducted in collaboration with another UNODC Project “Interactive Computer-Based Drug Law Enforcement Training for Central Asia, Caucasus and Afghanistan”, UNODC Office in Tajikistan told AP.

Training courses were divided into two phases: in February and early May this year. 65 Tajik and Uzbek drug law enforcement officers took part in the training course.

UNODC also said that a total of ten laptops were purchased for beneficiary countries in the frameworks of the Combating Illicit Trafficking in Opiates Originating in Afghanistan through Strengthening of Potential of Key Check-Points and Establishment of Offices for Boundary Cooperation Project.

“Furthermore, interactive computer-based modules, that will allow project beneficiaries to train their officers in any place and time, were installed on these laptops,” the source added.
