DUSHANBE, June 11, 2012, Asia-Plus  — At the end of last week the deputy head of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Asror Latipov left Dushanbe for Moscow for holding a number of meeting with Tajik labor migrants working in the Russian Federation, Usmon Solehov, head of the PRP’s public relations department, told Asia-Plus Monday afternoon.

According to him, Latipov’s visit to Russia will last until June 16 and the main purpose of the visit is for Latipov to get acquainted with problems facing Tajik migrant workers in Russia and propagate PDP’s ideas among them.

During his stay in the Russian Federation, Latipov will visit Moscow, St. Petersburg and Tver Oblast.  Bakhtiyor Hamdamov, editor-chief of Minbari Khalq, is accompanying him on this trip, Solehov noted.

The next presidential elections will take place in Tajikistan in November of 2013 and the ruling party has already launched the agitation campaign.

Founded in 1993, the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan is the biggest political party in Tajikistan.  Its chairman is President Emomali Rahmon.  The party controls some 70 percent of seats in the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the parliament.  It is the largest party, boasting more than 160,000 registered members.  The official newspaper of the party is Minbari Khalq.
