DUSHANBE, June 14, 2012, Asia-Plus — A session of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) is taking place in Dushanbe today afternoon.
A source at Tajikistan’s upper house of parliament says the Majlisi Milli members will consider issues related to recalling the chairman of the High Economic Court Amirkhoja Ghoibnazarov and the first deputy chairman of the High Economic Court Abduhofiz Ashourov.
Upon the recommendation of the President, Naim Mansourov, who had previously served at the Supreme Court of Tajikistan, will be elected the chairman of the High Economic Court and Abdukholiq Qodirov, formerly deputy Minister of Justice, will be elected the first deputy chairman of the High Economic Court.
The Majlisi Milli will also consider the issue of recalling the first deputy chairman of the Supreme Court of Tajikistan Anvarjon Yusupov.
Meanwhile the Majlisi Milli board yesterday endorsed the session agenda. More than 55 issues have reportedly been tabled to the session agenda.
The session is expected to consider seven laws adopted by the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) and issues related to changing administrative borders of the Danghara district and renaming a number of villages in Vanj, Jomi and Muminobod districts, the source added.
