DUSHANBE, June 19, 2012, Asia-Plus — The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Chairman Shukurjon Zuhurov today received Azeri Ambassador to Tajikistan Abbasali Karam oglu Hasanov.

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says issues related to further expansion of economic, political and cultural ties between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan were a major topic of the talks.

Azeri diplomat, in particular, noted that a direct air route between Baku and Dushanbe would be launched in July, Sultonov said.

Over the years of independence, the two nations have reportedly signed more than 20 government-to-government agreements.
