DUSHANBE, June 20, 2012, Asia-Plus – Dushanbe is expected to host the Qur’an reciting competition among Muslims from the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) member nations, Atovullo Qosimov, a spokesman for the Islamic Center of Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus today.

“Organized by the Islamic Center, the competition will take place from July 5-6,” Qosimov said, noting that each of countries participating in the competition will be represented by three reciters.

Reciters from ten CIS members nations are expected to participate in the forthcoming Qur’an memorization and recitation competition, he added.

We will recall that Siratullah Abdukholiq from Tajikistan was recognized the best among representatives from 30 countries of the world who participated in the International Qur’an Reciting Competition that took place in Moscow last year.

Besides, two representatives of Tajikistan were among the top ten winners of the 19th International Qur’an recitation Competition that took place last year in Cairo, Egypt.  More than 100 representatives from Asia, Europe and Africa participated in the 19th edition of Egypt’s International Qur’an Recitation Competition.

In 2011, Tajik Qur’an reciters also participated in the 26th International Qur’an Recitation Competition that took place in Tehran.  The best Qur’an reciters aged 18 to 40 from 40 Muslim countries of the world participated in the Qur’an recitation competition in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
