DUSHANBE, June 29, 2012, Asia-Plus — Deputies of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament have endorsed the draft law on safety of food products.
A regular sitting of the third session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on June 29.
Presenting the bill, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Ms. Gulchehra Bozorova, said that the services of international experts had been enlisted for working out the draft law and the food product safety was one of requirements for Tajikistan’s admission to the World Trade Organizations (WTO).
“This draft law is aimed at, fist of all, protecting lives and health of people the population and promoting environmental protection,” said the deputy minister. “The draft law also determines measures of state control over production, transportation and sale of food products.”
Under this daft law, the main responsibility for safety of food products is borne by a producer, Ms. Bozorova added.
