DUSHANBE, July 2, 2012, Asia-Plus — Senior representatives from Tajik ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are reportedly continuing the agitation campaign among Tajik labor migrants working in the Russian Federation.
Usmon Solehov, head of the PDP public relations department, says a group of senior representatives from the PDP left Tajikistan for Moscow Monday morning. “Their visit to Russia will last until July 8,” said Solehov, “The main purpose of the visit is for them to meet with Tajik labor migrants working in the Central and Volga Federal Districts of the Russian Federation to get acquainted with their living conditions and problem facing them.”
“They will also conduct agitation among Tajik migrant workers on joining the ruling party,” Solehov said, noting that dozens of other PDP delegations will visit Russia before the end of this year to conduct agitation campaign among the Tajik labor migrants.

editor-in-chief Bakhtiyor Hamdamov visited Tajik Migration Service’s office in Moscow in early June. The role of the PDP in the social and political life of the country and work with Tajik nationals working in the Russian Federation as well as the current migration situation in Russia were a major topic of the meeting. The meeting participants also discussed further cooperation in work with Tajik labor migrants working in the Russian Federation.
During their stay in the Russia, Latipov and Hamdamov visited Moscow, St. Petersburg and Tver Oblast to get acquainted with living conditions of Tajik labor migrants working in the areas and propagate PDP’s ideas among them.
The next presidential elections will take place in Tajikistan in November of 2013 and the ruling party has already launched the agitation campaign.
Founded in 1993, the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan is the biggest political party in Tajikistan. Its chairman is President Emomali Rahmon. The party controls some 70 percent of seats in the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the parliament. It is the largest party, boasting more than 160,000 registered members.
