DUSHANBE, July 3, 2012, Asia-Plus – Customs officers seized a large amount of hashish at the Panji Poyon (or Nizhniy Pyandzh) border crossing checkpoint on the Tajik-Afghan border in the southern Khatlon province on July 2, an official source at the Customs Service told Asia-Plus Tuesday morning.
An inspection of vehicles proceedings via the checkpoint found a package of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 6.777 kilograms hidden in the truck carrying cement.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the driver and an investigation is under way, the source said.
