Tajikistan’s external trade turnover estimated at over $2.8 bln in Jan-Jul 2012

DUSHANBE, August 16, 2012, Asia-Plus  — In January-July 2012, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power and natural gas, has amounted to 2.8286 billion U.S. dollars, which was 111.0 percent of the January-July 2011 level or 280 million U.S. dollars more, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The trade balance was negative and amounted to 1.2784 billion U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods over the first seven months of this year have amounted to 775.1 million U.S. dollars, which is 0.4 percent or 3.3 million U.S. dollars more than in January-July 2011.

Imports of goods into the country over the same seven-month period have amounted to 2.0535 billion U.S. dollars, which is 16.0 percent or 282.7 million dollars more than in the same period last year.

Over the report period, Tajikistan has reportedly had relations with 91 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

Compared to January-July 2011 natural gas imports have fallen 20 percent and flour imports have fallen 8.2 percent.  Meanwhile, fuel imports have risen 24 percent over the first seven months of this year.
