DUSHANBE, November 12, 2008, Asia-Plus — A two-day meeting of the sub-commission for military and technical cooperation within the Tajik-Russian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation opened in Dushanbe today.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Ms. Tojinisso Azizova, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Energy and Transport (MoET), said that the meeting is considering a draft agreement on interaction in exporting military-purpose goods to the third countries as well as a draft agreement on joint use of productive facilities of the state unitary enterprise, Zarya Vostoka, for production of defense-purpose output.
The meeting is also supposed to consider issues related to improvement of legal foundation of military-technical cooperation, joint use of productive facilities of Zarya Vostoka for production, modernization, repair and utilization of products of military purpose, as well regulation of debts for training of military and technical personnel for Tajikistan at Russian military schools, as well as organization of maintenance and modernization of the Russian-made armored materiel and rocket-artillery armament with involvement of Tajik enterprises, the spokeswoman said.
Besides, the meeting participants are supposed to discuss the progress of implementation of an agreement on work on ensuring safe processing of solid propellant, as well as the mechanism of implementation of an agreement on mutual protection of rights to the results of intellectual activity yielded in the course of bilateral military-technical cooperation.
