DUSHANBE, September 3, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The board (Shuro) of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament considered a new edition of the country’s tax code at a September 3 meeting, presided over by the Majlisi Namoyandagon speaker, Shukurjon Zuhurov, again.

Speaking at the meeting, Safarali Rajabov, the head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on Taxes and Budget, noted that the procedure of consideration of the new edition of the tax code by the Majlisi Namoyandagon committees and commission had been finished and an extraordinary sitting of the Majlisi would consider it on September 5.

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says the board also considered draft laws requiring amendments to the country’s laws on the national budget for 2012 and innovations as well as a draft law on public-private partnership (PPP) in Tajikistan.

Public-private partnership (PPP) describes a government service or private business venture which is funded and operated through a partnership of government and one or more private sector companies.

In Tajikistan, the Pamir Energy Company (PamirEnergy) Project is a model of collaboration between private and public partners, between IFC and IDA and between the World Bank Group and donors, and its example can be successfully followed in other difficult regions of the developing world.
