KHUJAND, September 15, 2012, Asia-Plus  — On Friday September 14, Hussein Anvari, Head of the Imam Khomeini’s Relief Committee (IKRC), inaugurated a center for training young men in processing of stone in Khujand, the capital of the northern Sughd province.

The IKRC head arrived in northern Tajikistan on September 13 to review the IRKC-sponsored projects in the province.

Ten training centers set up under financial support of the Iranian relief foundation now function in seven cities and districts of Sughd province.

We will recall that Hussein Anvari arrived in Tajikistan on the evening of September 11 for a three-day working visit.  His discussions with high-ranking Tajik state officials focused on state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between the Iranian relief foundation and Tajikistan.

IKRC has worked in Tajikistan since 1998.  Since 2007, the Iranian relief foundation has opened training centers for women in Dushanbe, Kulob, Qurghon Teppa, Vahdat, Khorog, Khujand, Rasht and Nourobod.

Imam Khomeini”s Relief Committee (also Imam Khomeini”s Relief Foundation) was founded in March 1979 as a charity organization to provide support for poor families.  The aim is to help such families regain financial stability.

This foundation is supported by Iranian government and also receives the Islamic taxes of Khums and Zakat, as well as Zakat al-Fitr.  Also, the foundation has charity boxes installed all across the country to gather donations.
