DUSHANBE, November 8, 2012, Asia-Plus — Over the first ten months of this year, Tajikistan has produced more than 370,000 tons of coal, which is 160,000 tons, or 80 percent, more than in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI).
An official source at a MoEI says that more than 400,000 tons of coal have been sold over the same ten-month period, which is 180,000 tons more than in January-October last year.
Some 1,700 coal-selling shops now operate across the country.
In Tajikistan, coal mostly comes from the Fon-Yaghnob, Vuromun, Shourob, Sayod and Shourobod deposits, the sources noted.
