International and local organizations render assistance to disabled children affected by Dushanbe blaze

DUSHANBE, January 9, Asia-Plus — A number of local and international organizations active in Tajikistan have started rendering assistance to disabled children hit by the orphanage’s blaze in Dushanbe.  

Saidahmad Zardon, a spokesman for the Tajik Ministry of Labor and Social Security, has told Asia-Plus that as of late Monday [January 9] more than ten organizations have provided assistance to the disabled children that become victims of the fire.   

Thus, a number of enterprises based in the Dushanbe district of Sino have provided 50 sets of bed-clothes and three heating appliances.  

The UNICEF Country Office in Tajikistan has provided 150 blankets, 100 hygienic packets and other relief supplies.  Moreover, the UNICEF Country Office in Tajikistan has expressed readiness to provide assistance in rehabilitation of the orphanage, the labor ministry’s spokesman said, adding that the issue of future rehabilitation of the burnt orphanage for children with mental disabilities is being considered at the governmental level.
