, May 18, Asia-Plus — Officers from the Interior Ministry department for countering narcotics (drug police) intercepted a large amount of heroin in the Farkhor district of Khatlon on May 17.
According to information from Tajik drug police, a 36-year-old resident of Farkhor Saidahmad Safarov was detained on suspicion of having been involved in dug trafficking. Some 14 kilograms of heroin were confiscated from him. An investigation is under way.
Tajik police have intercepted 1,107 kilograms of drugs, with a half of them being heroin, since the beginning of the year, according to the source.
