Tajikistan
held events to mark an International Day of Museums.
A ceremonial meeting on this occasion was held at the
National
Kamoliddin
Behzod
Museum
in
Dushanbe
. On the sidelines of the meeting, a conference formally titled “Kulob in Mirror of History” was held at the
Tajik
National
Museum
. Known Tajik orientalists, historians, representatives from city and district museums,
Iran
’s cultural centers active in
Tajikistan
,
Cultural
Center
“
Bactria
” as well as students and teachers from
Russian-Tajik
Slavic
University
took part in the conference’s work.
According to information from the Ministry of Culture, at present 36 museums having rare exhibits are functioning in
Tajikistan
.
Among the rare exhibits kept in the
National
Kamoliddin
Behzod
Museum
in
Dushanbe
are “Iskandar Mehrob” (altar) dated from the Samanid period, golden belt dated from 13
th
century, ancient coins, collection of Tajik national clothing dated from the end of 19
th
and beginning of 20
th
centuries, etc.
At the same time, the museum has many problems facing it. The museum’s employees note that for lack of enough room for putting on display of exhibits many rare exhibits are kept in the museums basements. The museum also has no additional place for organizing temporary exhibitions, according to them.
