DUSHANBE, February 5, Asia-Plus – On Monday February 5, Saydullo Kahirulloyev, speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), met with Turkish Ambassador to Tajikistan Akif Aykhan.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said that their meeting had focused on a state and prospects of further expansion of inter-parliament relations between Tajikistan and Turkey. In the course of the talks Khairulloyev briefed Turkish diplomat on work of Tajikistan’s professional parliament. According to him, the Majlisi Namoyandagon has established close cooperation with parliaments of many countries across the world and participates in various inter-parliament assemblies.
“Deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, in particular, actively participate in various commissions of the CIS Inter-Parliament Assembly, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and the “Asian Parliaments for Peace” Union as well as other authoritative international organizations,” the speaker said, adding that working friendship groups function at the Tajik parliament to promote further expansion of cooperation with parliaments of other countries.
On the cooperation between the parliaments of Tajikistan and Turkey, Khairulloyev noted that is still at improper level and does not meet requirements of the time. “Both parties ought to take efforts to expand inter-parliament cooperation that will enable further development of Tajikistan’s economy and well-being of the country’s people,” Tajik speaker said.
For his part, Turkish Ambassador noted that he will take efforts to promote further expansion of cooperation between Turkey and Tajikistan in various fields, according to the spokesman.
