DUSHANBE, August 11, Asia-Plus — In the near future, Tajik nationals who are going to leave the country for seasonal work or studying will have to undergo medical examination, Asia-Plus has learned at the Ministry of Health (MoH).
The source at a MoH said that they, in particular, will be tested for HIV/AIDS without fail.
According to the Republican HIV/AIDS-Prevention Center, 756 HIV cases have been officially registered in Tajikistan as of April 1, and the majority of the newly detected HIV-sufferers are labor migrants.
According to the website
www.lastnews.com
, labor migrants constitute nearly 60 percent of a total number of voters in Tajikistan, which is more than 1.6 million people.
The MoH source further added that it cannot be ruled out that the health ministries of Tajikistan and Russia will conclude an agreement on documenting labor migrants. This agreement will regulate provision of labor migrants with medical documents and promote protection of their rights.
