Kazakhstan could invest in development of a number of branches of Tajik economy, say Kazakh official

DUSHANBE, September 14, Asia-Plus  — “Kazakhstan could be an interesting investor for Tajikistan in a number of directions,” Azat Peruashev, the head of Kazakhstan’s National Economic Chamber, told journalists in Dushanbe on September 13.  

“I know that a number of our companies are already working in Tajikistan,” said the Kazakh official, “Tajikistan is rich in water and energy resources as well as has considerable reserves of iron ore, silver and other natural resources.”  In the meantime, in connection with plentiful growth of production, Kazakhstan needs more electrical power and Tajik electricity supplies would be useful, he said.  

He added that Nazarbayev had ordered the National Economic Chamber to organize delivery of fruits and vegetables from Tajikistan.  

He also outlined the construction sector as area of which could drive the bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.  According to hi, Kazakhstan could invest in development of housing in Tajikistan.  

“Kazakhstan and Tajikistan have enough resources and potentials to expand economic cooperation,” the head of Kazakhstan’s National Economic Chamber said.
