Turkmenistan appoints new ambassador to Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, September 24, Asia-Plus — Turkmen President has nominated Ahmed Qurbanov to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Tajikistan, according to the Tajik MFA information department.  

Davlat Nazri, a spokesman for the MFA, said that Qurbanov, who replaced Ata Gunodgdiyev in this post, will arrive in Tajikistan at the end of this month. 

Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan were established on January 27, 1993.  The same month, Tajik governmental delegation paid a working trip to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.  The visit resulted in signing of seven bilateral cooperation documents.
