DUSHANBE, October 18, Asia-Plus — First Deputy Customs Service Chief, Nematboy Rahmatov, told journalists in Dushanbe on October 18 that Tajikistan is currently working on joining the Customs Union within the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) area.
He said that advantages of the Customs Union are restoration of broken production ties as well as free movement of passengers and commodities. “One the most important trends of the Customs Union is a regime of free trade,” Rahmatov stressed.
According to him, Tajikistan’s joining the Customs Union will not hurt the country’s budget.
We will recall that representatives from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan signed a package of agreements on the formation of accustoms union commission and on establishing a common customs area at a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Community in Dushanbe on October 6.
