Gorno Badakhshan first in Tajikistan to fulfill its autumn conscription campaign target

DUSHANBE, November 1, Asia-Plus — The autumn conscription campaign has reached 73 percent of the target to date, which is considered  a good result, especially with a month remaining in the campaign, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

The source at a MoD said Gorno Badakhshan is the first in Tajikistan to fulfill its autumn conscription campaign  target.

The conscription campaign in other regions has also yielded good results and in the territorial cross section the percentage the target reached are: Sughd – 79; Khatlon – 73; districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) – 63 and Dushanbe – 54.  

The autumn conscription campaign is carried out from October through November 2007, and the draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old who are not members of the armed forces reserve.   

According to the MoD, some 6,000-7,000 conscripts are expected to be drafted into the army during the autumn conscription campaign.
