Capital mayor sacks heads of some Dushanbe educational facilities

DUSHANBE, December 3, Asia-Plus — Capital mayor has sacked a number of heads of schools and kindergartens as well reprimanded some municipal officials for failing to take adequate preparations for the winter.  

Capital mayor on December 3 held a meeting to discuss issues related to taking timely preparations to ensure the regular work of the city’s economy during winter months. 

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that deputy mayors and heads of Dushanbe’s districts are to assume control of work on providing the population, economic, social and cultural facilities with electricity, gas and fuel, passenger transport services and communal services during winter months.  Special commissions were set up that will work from December 5, 2007 to March 15, 2008.  

 The Dushanbe education directorate head Shamsullo Islomov reported on measures taken to prepare the city’s education facilities for the winter.  According to him, heads of orphanage # 1 and boarding schools # 3 as well principals of schools ## 44 and 98 and heads of kindergartens ## 52, 66, 119, 123, 127, 130 and 134 were dismissed for failing to take adequate preparations for the winter, the spokesman said.    

The mayor also demanded at the meeting that control of use budgetary funds should be tightened.  

            The mayor also set specific tasks on preparations for a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which is expected to be held in Dushanbe in the second half-year of 2006.  

            Bahriddin Valiyev was relieved of his post of the director of the Dushanbe trade and markets directorate.  He was replaced by Asomiddin Rizoyev, who had previously been deputy head of Tojikmatlubot (Tajik consumers’ cooperatives), Saidov said.
