Tajik FM holds meetings with Azeri and Pakistani ambassadors

DUSHANBE, December 15, Asia-Plus — Some aspects of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan were discussed at a meeting of Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi with Azeri Ambassador to Tajikistan Magerram Aliyev that was held in Dushanbe on December 14, according to Tajik MFA.

The two, in particular, considered issues related to construction of a building of the Azeri embassy in Dushanbe and opening of aerial communication between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.

The same day, outgoing Pakistani Ambassador to Tajikistan Iramulla Mesoud conferred here with Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi at the end of his tenure to Tajikistan

In the course of the talks Zarifi and Mesoud expressed satisfaction with the present level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The two noted that that a new bridge across the Panj River, consolidating permanent overland links between Tajikistan’s Panji Poyon and  Afghanistan’s port of Sherkhan Bandar, promoted development of trade in the region.  It was noted that export of Tajik farm produce to Pakistan and import of Pakistan cement via Afghan territory had increased.  The bridge also provides chance to boost trade with other countries of the region.
