DUSHANBE, January 18, Asia-Plus — Cyclic power cutoffs have been introduced in Dushanbe and electricity rationing in the Tajik capital has been increased by one hour.
On January 17, Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev signed a resolution requiring introduction of cyclic power cutoffs in the Tajik capital, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe, mayor said.
According to him, the resolution also approved a schedule of the supply of daily electricity to residential buildings and some enterprises and organizations, including educational, and medical facilities. Medical facilities that are affected by the cyclic power regime include some medical centers and polyclinics.
Under the introduced cyclic power regime, electricity supplies to residential buildings and organizations will be cut off every other day, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
The cyclic power regime is introduced in all Dushanbe’s districts with the exception of the center of the city. The cyclic power regime will not affect strategic sites such as hospitals, airport, railway station and the central communications center.
The cyclic power regime has been introduced in the Tajik capital with effect from January 16 and will last till January 31.
We will recall that before that electricity rationing had been introduced only on the outskirts of the city. Electricity rationing in those areas was introduced on November 13, 2007, and electricity supplies to those areas have been cut off from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
