Limited electricity supplies resume to rural residents in Sughd

KHUJAND, March 4, Asia-Plus  — Limited electricity supplies have resumed to rural residents in northern Tajikistan.

According to the branch of Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) power holding in Khujand, 6.145 million kWh of electricity were supplied to province on March 3 that allowed resuming limited power supplies to rural residents.  They now receive electricity supplies for two hours – one hour of electricity in the morning and one hour in the evening.

“At present 30 percent of the total volume of electricity supplied to the province is distributed to residential consumers and 70 percent is distributed to industrial enterprises, organizations funded from the budget and facilities of statewide significance,” the source at the Khujand branch said.   

 He added that more than 70 percent of 226 industrial enterprises in Sughd have resumed their activities.
