GBAO counternarcotics directorate burns 31 kilos of drugs

KHOROG, March 31, Asia-Plus  — On Saturday march 29, officers from the GBAO counter narcotics directorate burned 31 kilograms of drugs in Khorog in the presence of representatives from the GBAO police directorate, regional prosecutor’s office, regional court and the border operational group “Khorog.” 

According to the GBAO counternarcotics directorate chief Oraz Khudododov, the totaled included 27 kilograms of heroin, three kilograms of raw opium and some one kilogram of hashish.  

Khudododov told Asia-Plus that the drugs were confiscated in the course of 2007-08, adding that seven criminal proceedings had been instituted on drug trafficking charges. 

“Three criminal proceedings have been instituted against three Tajik nationals and four criminal proceedings have been instituted against four Afghan citizens,” the GBAO counter narcotics directorate chief said, noting that all of them got long jail terms ranging from nine to fifteen years.
