DUSHANBE, August 4, 2008, Asia-Plus — Tajik farmers have overfulfilled the target on intermediate sowing of different agricultural crops by nearly 4 percent.
According to Narzullo Dadaboyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), the intermediate sowing campaign was carried out on the area of 101,000 hectares, which is 103.9 percent of the target.
“During the intermediate sowing campaign, maize has been planted on the area of 20,794 hectares, rice – 5,480 hectares, cereals – 9,614 hectares, potatoes – 626 hectares, vegetables – 10,173 hectares, industrial crops – 1,282 hectares, watermelons, melons and gourds – 1,637 hectares, and forages – 55,310 hectares,” the spokesman said.
