DUSHANBE, August 4, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Two separate operations carried out by officers from the anticorruption agency in Dushanbe on August 3 led to the seizure of more than 13 kilograms of gold wares.

The source at the anticorruption agency said that 12.5 kilograms of gold wares for a total amount of 540,000 somonis had been confiscated from Ms. Khadicha Mukhtorova.  “The gold wares were delivered to the country illegally and were sold without specifying hallmark,” the source said.  

Another female entrepreneur from Dushanbe, Nourinisso Jumayeva, sold 227 items of gold wares for more than 100,000 somonis, according to the source.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Mukhtorova and Jumayeva and an investigation is under way.
