KULOB, August 20, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A group of Russian medical workers, numbering 13 persons, arrived in Kulob yesterday to receive local patients.

According to Alisher Kobirov, head of the Kulob health directorate, the Russian physicians arrived in Tajikistan under a government-to-government agreement between the two countries.  “Russian specialists will advise and diagnose our patients,” Kobirov said, noting that they will stay in each of ten districts of the Kulob region for 2-3 days, receiving patients at local hospitals.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Russian medical workers will submit a detailed report on the work done to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Last year, Russian physicians advised and diagnosed some 1,000 residents of the Kulob region, the Kulob health directorate head said.
