KHUAJND, August 20, Asia-Plus  — A prosecutor’s office in the northern city of Chkalovsk on August 12 instituted criminal proceedings against the local medical-diagnostic center under the provisions of Article 129 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – non-fulfillment of functions causing death.

The criminal proceedings have been instituted, following an application by local resident Hasan Azizov, who accuses doctors working with the center in the death of his 19-year-old daughter Lola Azizova, who had undergone medical treatment at the center.

According to him, Lola died of anaphylactic shock.  He stressed that he intends to file suit against the center, which is a commercial medical facility, asking for 3 million somonis in damages.

In the meantime, representatives of the center and the resuscitation department within the Chkalovsk city hospital said that they had done all in their power to treat and save Lola.
