On April 26 at 18:00, the Community gastropub will host a creative evening featuring opera tenor Shohrukh Yunusov, who received his education at the Milan Conservatory. This is a new format for Dushanbe, so we learned the details of the event from the artist himself.

On this evening, accompanied by a piano and an instrumental ensemble, the artist will sing whose name has already become synonymous with a cultural bridge between Tajikistan and Europe.

Shohrukh Yunusov, whose talent was once noticed by the famous opera baritone Adham Khalikov, who took on his creative upbringing, has already brought fame to the country with victories in international competitions, and during his studies at the renowned Milan Conservatory, a video of his performance on a dormitory balcony went viral worldwide during COVID.

Today, he collaborates with several European opera theaters while continuing to be a soloist at the Tajik State Opera and Ballet Theater named after S. Ayni. His life involves constant travel, but he always gladly returns to his homeland.

“I recently returned after a European tour, so we rehearsed separately. Overall, it took two weeks to prepare the program. The idea has been long-standing—I want to give the city’s residents a musical gift on the eve of the 35th anniversary of Independence. The evening will feature the most recognizable Italian pieces alongside world and Tajik classics!” Shokhrukh Yunusov explained in an interview with ‘Asia-Plus’.

“Breath’s Distance” Format

The upcoming concert is a joint project of Shokhrukh Yunusov and the co-founder of the FIFTYFIVE Group holding, Dilshod Jurazoda. However, the idea of the concert originated with the artist long ago out of a desire to promote opera art among the public.

He admits that he wants to give Dushanbe something more than a concert—it will be a live dialogue in a cozy atmosphere.

“I will perform in this format here for the first time,” shares Shokhrukh. “It’s a blend of genres and sincerity that is only possible in such a soulful setting. I want the citizens to know their compatriots representing the country on the world’s theatrical and opera stages.”

During the evening, Shokhrukh will talk about his life in Europe, his connection with Dushanbe, and how music helps change perspectives. Additionally, an artist whose performance will be a pleasant surprise for every Dushanbe resident will also participate in the concert (their name is not disclosed).

The evening promises to be one of those memories that remain as proof that true culture knows no boundaries, and the best meetings occur where there is sincerity.
