DUSHANBE, August 27, Asia-Plus — 13 documents are expected to be signed during Chinese president’s visit to Tajikistan, according to the Tajik MFA.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Davlat Nazriyev, head of the MFA information department, said that Chinese President Hu Jintao, who arrived in Dushanbe yesterday evening for a state visit, is holding talks with President Emomali Rahmon today morning. Their talks will be followed by negotiations in an enlarged format with participations of the delegations of the two countries. The negotiations will result in signing of thirteen cooperation documents, the MFA spokesman said.
According to him, Rahmon and Hu will ink a joint declaration on further expansion of relations of neighborliness, friendship and cooperation.
The foreign ministers of the two countries will sign a program of cooperation between Tajikistan and China for 2008-2013.
A number of other government-to-government agreements will also be signed today, including an agreement on avoiding double taxation; an agreement on international automotive communication; an agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and China’s Export and Import (Eximbank) Bank; and an agreement between China Development Bank (CDB) and Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank).
Besides, relevant ministries and organizations of Tajikistan and China will sign four interagency documents.
During his stay in Dushanbe, the Chinese president is also scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and chairmen of both chambers of Tajik parliament. On August 28, he will attend a summit of heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
