DUSHANBE, September 1, 2008, Asia-Plus  — An international forum to discuss issues related to preventing illegal migration and trafficking in persons in Central Asia and the Russian Federation will be held in Qairoqqum, Sughd province from September 16-18.  

The forum, staged by International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Mission in Tajikistan under financial support of the Government of Denmark, is part of the Central Asian Partner Group project.

According to the IOM Mission in Tajikistan, the main objective of the forum is in promoting expansion of cooperation, establishment of new international contacts and creation of new regional and international networks of NGOs dealing with prevention of illegal migration from Central Asia’s countries negative effects of illegal migration in the countries of destination.

35 representatives of non-government organizations and NGOs networks from Central Asia and the Russian Federation dealing with labor migration problems, human rights and countering human trafficking have been invited to attend the forum.
