DUSHANBE, September 1, 2008, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon on Sunday sent a telegram of congratulations to his Kyrgyz counterpart, President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, on occasion of Kyrgyzstan’s Independence Day, presidential press service said.   

In his message, President Rahmon, in particular, noted that Tajikistan intends to undertake all necessary efforts to further boost relations of friendship, neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.   

 On August 31, 1991, Kyrgyzstan adopted a declaration of Independence and since then has celebrated August 31 as Independence Day.
