Tajik court sentences Uganda national to 19 years in prison for drug trafficking

 DUSHANBE, September 5, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A woman from Uganda that was detained by customs officers at the Dushanbe airport in late May this year has got a long jail term for drug trafficking. 

A court in Dushanbe’s Shohmansour district ruled this week that the Uganda national be given a jail term of 19 years.  The sentence followed her conviction of charges of criminal attempt, drug trafficking and smuggling.  

 We will recall that an inspection of passengers on the flight Dushanbe-Istanbul flight found more than 30 kilograms of heroin hidden in luggage belonging citizen of Uganda.
