KHUJAND, September 19, 2008, Asia-Plus — Some Russian cities are trying to solve the problem of housing arrangements for labor migrants.
Authorities of the Russian city of Yekaterinburg have made a decision to built a large dormitory for labor migrants from the CIS countries, Leonid Grishin, top manger of the limited liability company Uralskiy Dom (Russia), announced at a meeting with reporters in the northern city of Qairoqqum on September 18 on sidelines of ongoing international forum of NGOs of Central Asia’s states and Russia.
The forum is dedicated to discuss issues related to countering illegal migration, protecting labor migrant’s rights and combating trafficking in persons.
According to Grishin, a place has already been allotted for construction of the dormitory that accommodate up to 6,000 labor migrants from the CIS states.
